- All signers must be present in person
- Every signer must have proper photo identification (*see complete list below), must be completely able to understand the significance of the document, and must sign of their own free will
- Document must be completely filled in, no blank spaces (except client signature & notarization section)
- By law, notaries cannot give legal advice - please be sure to speak with your attorney or other advisor and get answers to any questions you may have BEFORE you meet me for the signing!
*Acceptable Photo ID's
1. Photo identification must be valid (not expired and not temporary) and can include:
- CA driver's license or non-driver ID from CA DMV
- US passport
2. Additional forms of ID can be accepted if they are valid (not expired and not temporary) and must contain, photo, signature, serial number and physical description, including:
- Driver's license or non-driver ID from another US state
- Driver's license issued by Mexico or Canada
- Valid passport or consular identification from signer's country of citizenship
- Employee ID card from any state, county or city agency or office in CA
- US military ID that contains all the required elements (e.g. not the CAC)
3. ID card issued by a federally recognized tribal government is accceptable.
